The first thing I ever turned

The first thing I ever turned on a lathe. What stayed with me was how fast it happened — a rough block spinning down into something with real curves and a hollow center in the space of an afternoon. It's not perfect, and you can see that up close, but it's the piece that made me want to keep turning.
